Overall Socioeconomic Position

Reasons For Inactivity

One third of Muslim men aged 16-64 are permanently sick or disabled, and combined 16% having to retire before 65, this accounts for approximately half of all Muslim men of working age. Whereas nearly half the general population are economically inactive because of further education, this figure is much lower for Muslim men.

The overall picture of Muslim women of working age matches the national picture more closely than that of Muslim men although a much higher proportion are inactive due to sickness or a disability.
